Discover how to change your touchpad settings and boot from a DVD

Question: How do I change the touchpad settings on my Advent Monza T100 or T200?

Answer: To get the most from your Windows 8 computer, we suggest disabling one-finger scrolling to help improve your navigation experience. To do this, go to the ‘Desktop’ and click on the small triangle located on the taskbar . Select the ‘Synaptics Pointing Device’ icon from the list that appears; this will open ‘Mouse Properties’. Select the ‘Device Settings’ tab and then ‘Settings’. In the next window that opens, un-tick the box for single-finger scrolling. Select ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’.

Question: How can I boot from a DVD or USB ?

Solution: Your new Windows 8 Advent computer boots up differently to help make start-up as fast as possible. This means you will need to change a few settings to be able to boot from a DVD or USB .

With your PC turned on, insert the USB or DVD and open the ‘Charms’ bar; click on ‘Settings’ and then ‘Change PC Settings’. When in PC settings choose the ‘General’ tab and select ‘Restart Now’. Your computer will now go to a blue screen, where you can select the device you want to boot up with.
