KNOWHOW Q&As: Connect and set up your Windows 8 PC

Find out how to quickly and easily set up your new PC

Question: How do I connect my Windows 8 PC?

Answer: Once everything is unpacked, start by connecting your keyboard and mouse. If wired, they will go into the round PS2 ports (1); if wireless, the receiver will plug into USB ports (2 and 3). Next is the monitor, which will go into one of the three slots – VGA , DVI or HDMI (3). Make sure you tighten the two screws on the side, to lock it into position. If you have internet, connect the Ethernet cable into the network port (4) and any speakers or headphones can slot into the audio ports (5).

If you need to connect printers, webcams or other accessories, you should do this later on, after you have started your computer for the first time.
