What is Windows 8?

Introducing the latest version of Windows...

Microsoft Windows 8 marks a bold new step into the future for your Advent PC. It sees Windows re-imagined to focus on your lifestyle, and is designed to work on a wide variety of devices, from smartphones and tablets to laptops and desktop PCs. The hub of Windows 8 is found in the new, completely redesigned tile-based Start screen. From here you can browse and download thousands of apps designed to run full-screen, ensuring you get maximum productivity and minimal distraction.

Behind the smart new interface lies the rock-solid Windows desktop, just as it is in Windows 7. This gives you access to everything you know and love about Windows, including older apps, devices and features.

At its core, Windows 8 is designed for sharing and synchronising. Share photos, video, documents and other files between apps, people and online services. You can also use your account across all your devices, so your personal preferences and settings can follow you wherever you go. It’s simple, effortless and a huge part of what makes Windows 8 so special.

Windows 8 builds upon the reliability, security and performance of Windows 7 to deliver an even better experience on your Advent PC. Throw in a touch-friendly Modern UI (user interface), immersive web browsing with Internet Explorer 10, and much, much more - and it’s clear that Windows 8 is the best version of Windows yet.
